Farm Fresh Produce at the Kerr Village Farmerrs Market

The Fresh Corn was very popular today.

Saturday August 7th was a beautiful day at the Kerr Village Farmers Market. On this day everything came together to make it a perfect market day. To start with our produce ranging from fresh tree ripened fruit from Niagara on the Lake to farm fresh produce like Corn, Cantaloupe, Cauliflower, and beans from Martins Family Fruit farm in St. Jacobs.  We also had hydroponic peppers and stripped eggplant from St. David’s Hydroponics as well as Fresh eggs from Schultz farm.  Douglas Eiche who operates Doug’s Honey also had a busy day selling his Honey, pollen and propolis, beeswax lotion, lip balm and candles.

All of this was fine for the adults that frequent the Kerr Village Farmers Market, but what about the kids.  This week we had a special treat for the kids.

They were greeted by a bright and colourful bouncing castle.  This Bouncing Castle had an extra special slide feature. The bouncing castle was a big hit with the kids and the parents.  While the kids got a workout in the bouncing castle the parents were treated to a performance by David Leask. David is a powerful performing songwriter, who has built an artistic bridge between the influences of his birthplace in Scotland and the fresh possibilities of his newfound Canadian home—producing three critically-acclaimed CD’s, one Juno nomination and a bag full of songwriting awards. His music explores the diverse landscapes of human emotion while combining the story-telling tradition of his homeland in his own fusion of Celtic soul and country/pop/rock.

Upcoming events include “Cooking With Beer” presented by Chef Paul Hoag of Liaison College and Cameron’s Brewery.  http://www.liaisoncollegeoakville.com/  on August 21st.   We are also planning an event with the Wine Ladies, Liaison College, and Vodka  on Sept 18th.  Stay tuned for more details.
